SANDING, GRINDING, BUFFING, POLISHING, BLASTING

After the substrate has been prepped, either by sanding, grinding, or blasting, the part then has to be cleaned. Blasting, sometimes known as abrasive blasting, is the operation of forcibly propelling a stream of abrasive material under high pressure to smooth a rough surface, roughen a smooth surface, shape a surface, or remove surface contaminants. There are many types of media used depending on the substrate and the surface finish desired. A few examples include steel shot, aluminum oxide, glass beads, and walnut shells. Grinding and sanding are other types of abrasive cleaning that prep the surface before it's finished.
