SHIELDING

Our coating and finishing portfolio includes Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) shielding. This specialized coating reduces electronic malfunction susceptibility by blocking unwanted external electromagnetic waves or preventing internal electromagnetic waves from emitting and interfering with other circuits or devices.

As part of this process, a conductive coating is applied to the internal surfaces of the housing that holds the equipment responsible for the emissions. These coatings typically consist of copper, silver, or nickel and we often use custom masking to prevent overspray onto the outer surfaces. Many times, these are electronic devices such as medical and industrial equipment, computers, and power supplies. Shielding is performed to customer specifications, which are oftentimes driven by industry standards. Technology is becoming more prevalent in everyday items, which typically include internal electronics which may emit or be affected by external electronic “noise”. Shielding is a method used to reduce said noise.
